Le 13 avril 1802, Napoléon le nomme JOANNES BAPTISTA COLONNA DE ISTRIA évêque de Nice. Comme pour l'autre corse promu, Sébastiani nommé à Ajaccio, cette nomination est un véritable fait du prince, imposé par Napoléon en dehors de l'administration des cultes. Colonna d'Istria est ainsi un des rares assermentés promus évêques en 1802 ... Alors que Nice retourne en 1815 au Piémont-Sardaigne, Colonna d'Istria se montre également loyal envers la maison de Savoie ... A very good, crisp set with dedication on first fly ‘Edward Watson sr. with kind regards of the translator’. in the second volume ‘Edward Watson (jr) from his affectionate father June 28, 1858’.The pseudonymous author Elena Mikhailovna (Koltsova Masalskaia Elena Mikhailovna Gihka Kniaginia), (1828-1888) was a Romanian princess, niece of the hospodar of Wallachia, and author of several volumes on women’s issues, ‘Des femmes, par une femme and Les femmes en Orient’ (dealing with the Balkans and Russia). And this one translated in French and German: La Suisse allemande et l'ascension du Moench. The first reputed ascent of the Mönch (published in the second volume p. 307-326).Récit d’un voyage en Suisse et particulièrement dans l’Oberland bernois, avec le récit de l’ascension du Mönch.
