This publication, prepared for the exhibition 'The Omani Empire: Asia and Africa' at the State Hermitage Museum, chronicles the period (17th-19th centuries) when Oman united its possessions on the Arabian Peninsula and Western Asia with the east coast of Africa and its interior. It features palace objects belonging to the sultans of the al-Yarubi (1624-1741) and al-Busaidi (from 1746) dynasties, as well as household items, both courtly and everyday.
