‎" Paris, Charles Pillet & Francis Petit (experts), 1870, format in-8°, (26,5 cm), 207 pp + 42 original engravings (hors-texte). Bound in contemporary green half morocco, raised gilt spine. Boards covered with marbled paper, marbled end-papers. Upper inner joint weak, some minor sparse stains, still a fine copy. Complete catalogue of the most important sale held of the Demidoff collection. 556 Lots were sold. (In Paris 1863 and Florence 1880 other sales were held). This catalogue contains the major part of Demidoff's collection of paintings. It is richly illustrated with so-called ''interpretation engravings''. Images made of the paintings , engraved by famous master engravers such as Braquemond, Rajon, Courtry, Flameng... The advance of photographic reproduction techniques would soon supersede this very expensive way of art illustration.
