The very rare first printing of Luther’s sermon on Christian righteousness and the forgiveness of sins preached at Marburg in 1529. The sermon addresses one of the central theological questions of the Reformation, justification through faith and the forgiveness of sins emphasizing the distinction between Christian righteousness and human works. The sermon is part of the important group of Luther’s writings made in the aftermath of the Marburg Colloquy of October 1529 where Luther met with Zwingli and other leading reformers in an attempt to solve doctrinal differences in the still new Protestant movement.
