Exceedingly rare first edition of Alexandre Ferrier guidebook on Russia containing customs regulations (what may be imported into Russia), timetables for steamships from Le Havre and Lübeck, advice on how and where best to exchange foreign currency for Russian banknotes (preferably Dutch guilders), a list of ancient manuscripts held in the Public Library, and a wealth of other details on a wide range of aspects of public and private life. The author Alexandre Ferrier (1810–?), writer and member of the French Statistical Society and the Parisian Geographical Society, traveled through Russia in 1840.
