‎Interesting sammelband containing two rare work by German Lutheran theologian Philipp Jakob Spener both pertaining to the Spener-Pfeiffer controversy. Here Spener’s presents his response and theological defense against the attacks of August Pfeiffer who had accused Spener of dangerous innovations in theology, especially with regard to eschatology, sanctification and lay piety. Philipp Jakob Spener (1635-1705) was a prominent German Lutheran theologian, by many referred to as ""Father of Pietism"", known for founding the Pietism movement, which emphasized personal faith and piety over formal doctrinal orthodoxy.‎
