‎Rare first German translation of Banscroft’s influential work on the Natural History of Guiana, 'One of the earliest and most informative accounts of the flora and fauna of the Guianas' (Wood). Bancroft here provided valuable insights into the natural history, flora, and fauna of the Guiana region and he documented various aspects of the local environment, including the plants, animals, and geological features. In the 1763, Bancroft undertook a scientific expedition to Guiana (nowadays part of northeastern South America and divided between several countries, including Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana).
