RARE convolute of four very early imprints. The poems on Newton and Britannia are published in the same year as the first editions."

Un volume in 16°, relié plein veau de couleur rouge, dos à six caissons dont l’un mentionne le titre el l’auteur en lettres dorées, caissons avec motifs floraux estampés et deux ornements dorés sur les coiffes haut et bas. Les plats sont ornés d’un filet d’encadrement doré accompagné d’une simple frise florale estampée. Les bordures intérieures des deux plats sont ornés d’une discrète frise dorée à la roulette. L’ouvrage compte compte 203 pages et s’ouvre sur un frontispice illustrant le poème SPRING (une allégorique jeune femme dans un cadre naturel mi champêtre mi forestier, avec des plantes et des arbres en fleurs). Ce long et beau poème va être suivi de trois autres consacrés , on s’en doute, aux trois autres saisons. L’auteur, James THOMSON (1700-1748) était écossais. Les SEASONS furent son chef d’oeuvre. Edition originale et exemplaire en TRES BON ETAT.

Inner hinges weak and frontispiece and endpapers loose. A few scattered brownspots. Engraved frontispiece and title-page. XXIV,227 pp. + 4 engraved plates.
