""Swartz was a Swedish naturalist, who studied mostly botany, but he described a small number of scarabs in Schönherr’s Synonymia Insectorum (1817). He traveled widely in Sweden and also conducted a trip to North and South America (1783-85), after which he stayed for some time at the British Museum in London. He was Quensel’s successor as manager of the natural history collections of the Swedish Academy of Sciences before they became the Stockholm Museum of Natural History. His collection is mostly in Stockholm."" (Mattias Forshage, Uppsala University, Sweden.)
