First edition of Hannover's important work in which he discovered Lipofuscin, described as brown-yellow pigment in neurons. The deposition of the pigment in the cytoplasm of the neurons is one of the consistent age-related cytological changes, although it is found in myocardium and skeletal muscle as well.In order to isolate it Hannover used his famous method by chromatic acid for fixation of tissues in histology and indispensable in the fixation of nervous tissue, invented by himself.
