First printing of the first Danish encyclopedia, being a translation - but with numerous additions and alterations - of Brockhaus's third (and partly forth and fifth) edition of 'Lexicon'. It became immensely popular not only in Denmark but in Sweden and Norway as well and remained the most important and thorough encyclopedic reference work in Scandinavia untill the end of the 19th century.
