First edition. Gren is well-known for his chemical works, which were well received and they continued to appear long efter his death in 1798. ""Inspired by the example of his former teacher and patron Crell, Gren founded a periodical for the ""mathematical and chemical branches of natural science."" Under his editorship, the ""Journal der Physik (1790-94)...became Germany's most exciting scientific jlurnal.."" (DSB) Now it is known as ""Annalen der Physik"" (1799-present).
