All first editions. Vol. 1: Grundlagen der allgemeinen Sprachpsychologie (1941).Vol. 2: Vergleichendgenetische Sprachpsychologie (1943).Vol. 3: Physiologische Psychologie der Sprachvorgänge (1954) Vol. 4: Spezielle Sprachpsychologie (1956).The basic parts of Friedrich Kainz notable work on the psychology of language. In this work the relation between the two is utterly examinated, but it also becomes clear how Kainz held no explicit idealist tenets, advocated an inductive methodology, and believed in universal and invariant principles of language use in Humboldt's tradition. By sharing Humboldt's metaphor of mind's organic growth in language, however, Kainz himself might have fallen prey to a seduction by language. With Kainz the unity of philosophy and psychology in the study of linguistic phenomena came to an end.
