Both memoirs first editions. Meckel (1724-74) is known for ""Meckel's Ganglion"" and ""Meckel's Cave"". In this memoir he describes rare medical cases as intestinal stones etc. - Gledisch, well known for his studies on male and female plants and his establishment of the sexes in plants, gives in this memoir a long historical treatment of this plant, a Rhodendron with poisenous honey, referring to Greek and Roman authors as well as medieval herbalists etc.
