Second edition of Ludolfus' groundbreaking Ethiopian Grammar. The German, Job Ludolf, was the first to bring the study of Etiopian subjects into a system, and his present work is the first of its kind to see the light of day. It was unusal for the time to take up the study of something like the Ethiopian laguage, and after Ludolfus' important philological works followed a long period of neglect, which did not end till the second half of the nineteenth century, when these studies were finally resumed, causing them to flourish. Brunet III, pp. 1223.
