Gledisch was one of the first botanists to establish the existence of sex in plants. He made decisive experiments in the Berlin Garden to prove this fact. - In the second paper he makes experiments with artificial fertilization and ""cross-breeding"" between salmons and trouts, inspired by cross-breeding in plants.
