‎Récit de voyage à travers l’intérieur de l’Afrique en 1851. The author, the third son of the statesman Sir Robert Peel, undertook this journey with the intention of exploring the interior of Africa and contributing to the improvement of conditions among the local populations. In preparation, he studied Arabic under Joseph Churi. In 1850, the two travelled up the Nile as far as Khartoum and then onward to El Obeid, where both were struck by fever. Peel returned to Europe in January 1851 and published his travel journal the following year. Ch-1A ‎
