He describes the journey in the Rapport and comments on the state of medical instruction in Brazil. The second time he came alone to earn his living as a practising physician. His methods of treatment in Brazil provoked a controversy in the press, and in the Récit Dr. Fort defends himself, in turn strongly attacking the Brazilian medical profession.
