Grand in-8, reliure plein veau, dos à 5 nerfs, caissons dorés, roulette dorée sur les coupes, dentelle intérieure, reliure frottée, quelques éraflures sur les plats, coins émoussés, coiffe supérieure arasée, charnières fendues en pied et en tête, pages légèrement brunies. 520 pages, 5 planches illustrées in-texte, page 123 déchirée dans la marge sans atteindre le texte. Edition complétée et augmentée, par rapport à l'édition originale parue en 1704. Bon état intérieur. Bon exemplaire.

Prima edizione del 1704 di questo importante dizionario di arte scritto dallo storico dellarte e bibliografo bolognese Pellegrino Antonio Orlandi (1660-1727). Lopera, considerata «la più completa fonte di informazioni sugli artisti durante il XVIII secolo». (cfr. Dictionary of Art Historians, Lanitra Walker) è divisa in tre parti. Gli artisti vengono riportati in ordine alfabetico a partire dal nome. Nella prima parte gli antichissimi, la seconda contiene gli antichi, moderni e viventi, la terza i soprannomi e cognomi e un ricco apparato bibliografico (libri sullarte, prospettiva, architettura, disegno, cifre, marche, incisori ecc) "Quest 'opera fu tratta da tutte le opere biografiche con molta cura, e divenne la più comoda fonte di simili notizie" (Cicognara). Frontespizio figurato inciso da Ludovico Mattioli (1662-1747) su disegno di Giampietro Zanotti (1674-1765). Belle lettere iniziali decorate. Cinque tavole incise a piena pagina che riportano cifre, e marche usate dagli inventori e intagliatori. Belle vignette. In ottime condizioni. Copertina in piena pelle coeva con titolo e decorazioni in oro al dorso in ottime condizioni con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Legatura in buone condizioni. Five full-page engraved plates with marks, numbers letters used by inventors and engravers. Figurated title page engraved by Ludovico Mattioli (1662-1747) invented by Giampietro Zanotti (1674-1765). Condition of contents: Very good conditions. Occasional foxings. Condition of binding: Leather coeval cover with golden title and decorations in very good conditions lightly damaged in the extremities. First edition of the important reference work of art written by the historian of arrt and bibliographer from Bologna Pellegrino Antonio Orlandi (1660-1727) which contains around four thousand biographies of painters, sculptors and architects. The artists are divided in an alphabetical order based on their name.
