(mm. 226x170), 2 opere in 2 volumi, p. pergamena coeva, tit. oro sui tasselli al dorso. - La prima, "De morbis venereis", pp. 590; 642; ornata da testate, grandi capilettera e finalini, inc. su legno, divisa in nove libri: 1 De l'origine, des progrs et du dclin ou de l'histoire de la syphilis' - 2 De la nature, du caractre, de la propagation et des effets du virus vnrien' - 3 et 4 Du traitement' - Enfin, les cinq derniers, De la bibliographie, ou des auteurs qui ont crit sur cette affection, disposs par ordre chronologique (dal 1475 al 1740). Cos Biographie mdicale,I, p.400.- La seconda "Tractatus therapeuticus et pathologicus", di pp. 260. "Seconda edizione veneta" di quest'opera che ottenne grande successo, fu tradotta in varie lingue ed ebbe numerose edizioni.Cfr. Garrison and Morton,5195 che cita la prima ediz. del 1736 in 6 libri: Considering the period in which it was written, this is an admirable and comprehensive book on the subject. It includes a careful review of the existing literature. Of syphilis, Astruc says that it made its appearance in Europe in 1493. Il francese Jean Astruc (1684-1766) fu professore di anatomia a Parigi, noto soprattutto per il suo De Morbis Venereis'. Fu uno dei massimi esperti nel campo delle malattie femminili e particolarmente dei tumori; primo medico del re di Polonia, fu consulente di Luigi XV.Solo qualche lieve fiorit. margin., altrimenti un buon esemplare. ‎

Das wichtigste Buch über Herkunft, Geschichte und Behandlung der Geschlechtskrankheiten im 18. Jahrhundert. Mit einer Übersicht der gedruckten Literatur von 1495 bis zum Erscheinen des Werkes. Astruc war ein Vertreter der amerikanischen Herkunft der Syphilis. "Das beste und heute noch für jeden medizinischen Geschichtsforscher geradezu unentbehrliches Werk" (Hirsch I, 215). Astruc (1684-1766) war Professor in Toulouse, Montpellier und ab 1731 in Paris Leibarzt von Louis XV. - Vereinzelt etwas gebräunt und stockfleckig. Einbandkanten angeplatzt. Ecken stark bestossen. - In der ersten Ausgabe selten.‎
