Gilberte Ghesqui re liet het museum, na het legaat Van Ertborn uit 1841, de belangrijkste schenking in de geschiedenis van het KMSKA na. Het legaat met 131 kunstwerken bestaat voor het grootste deel uit moderne kunst. De schenking voegt belangrijke internationale namen toe aan de KMSKA-verzameling, zoals Pablo Picasso, Sonia Delaunay, Le Corbusier, Egon Schiele, Francis Bacon, Tom Wesselman, Keith Haring en Jean-Michel Basquiat. Ook de deelcollectie abstracte kunst is in het bijzonder versterkt, met werk van onder andere Kurt Schwitters en Pierre-Louis Flouquet. Het museum bezat reeds een mooi overzicht van modernistische beelden dankzij de aankopen op de Bi nnales van het Middelheim. Met dit legaat wordt ook de collectie kleinsculptuur aangevuld met werk van Julio Gonz lez, Pablo Gargallo en Jacques Lipchitz. /// Gilberte Ghesqui re has bequeathed the most significant donation in the history of KMSKA, after the 1841 Van Ertborn bequest. The bequest with 131 works of art consists mostly of modern art. The donation adds important international names to the KMSKA collection, such as Pablo Picasso, Sonia Delaunay, Le Corbusier, Egon Schiele, Francis Bacon, Tom Wesselman, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The subcollection of abstract art has also been particularly enhanced, with works by Kurt Schwitters and Pierre-Louis Flouquet, amongst others. The museum already possessed a fine overview of modernist sculptures thanks to purchases from the Middelheim Biennales. This bequest also completes the collection of small sculpture with works by Julio Gonz lez, Pablo Gargallo and Jacques Lipchitz.
