Belangrijk is de relatie met de universiteitsbibliotheek: collectief geheugen van de mens, een gebouw met een verzameling aan boeken en kennis. Het kunstwerk, onthuld in 2004, is een geschenk aan de stad Leuven vanwege de universiteit ter gelegenheid vanhaar 575e verjaardag in het jaar 2000. Dit boek gaat dieper in op de ideeenwereld en de en de beeldtaal van Jan Fabre, waarin de kever een van de vele terugkerende motieven is.
