Un numéro intéressant de la célèbre revue fondée par Lucien Febvre et Marc Bloch, et renouvellée par Fernand Braudel, qui a considérablement modifiée les études historiques en rejetant, sans doute un peu trop, le poid des événements pour privilégier une approche plus globale centrée sur l'évolution des courants économiques, sociaux et culturels. On y trouvera, entre autres: une étude sur Rome pendant la seconde guerre punique; une définition des classes inférieures à l'époque moderne par François Furet; un débat entre Pierre Renouvin, Bertrand de Jouvenel, Alain Touraine et Raymond Aron; des articles de Fernand Braudel.
