Thévenin, dont 9 hors-texte et 6 vignettes. Tirage à 225 exemplaires sur papier impérial du Japon ; celui-ci hors commerce non numéroté comportant une dédicace signée des éditeurs, sur laquelle le nom du destinataire a été gratté. Préface par Henry D. Davray. Sans chemise, ni étui. "Jean Georges Cornélius (1880 - 1963), travailla dans les Ateliers Gustave Moreau puis Luc-Olivier Merson. Dès 1903 il commença à exposer, plusieurs années au Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. Il a tenté la synthèse d'un certain accent moderne et d'une référence à la tradition décorative et spirituelle médiévale. D'entre les ouvrages qu'il a illustrés : "La Chanson de Roland", "La Ballade de la Geôle de Reading" et "De Profundis" d'Oscar Wilde, "Les Paradis artificiels" de Baudelaire. Il a gravé une suite : "La Passion" d'après ses propres peintures, avec un texte d'Henri Pourrat". (Benezit). Limited printing of 225 copies on imperial Japan paper ; this copy not-for-sale not numbered, with a signed dedication by the editors, the addressee name being rubbed out. Preface by Henry D. Davray. Without folder, nor slipcase. "Jean Georges Cornélius (1880 - 1963), worked in "Atelier Gustave Moreau" and after that in "Atelier Luc-Olivier Merson". From 1903 he began to exhibit, several yeard in the "Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts". He tried to match a modern touch with hints of decorative and spiritual medieval tradition. Among other books he illustrated : "La Chanson de Roland", "La Ballade de la Geôle de Reading" and "De Profundis" by Oscar Wilde, "Les Paradis artificiels" by Baudelaire. He engraved a set : "La Passion", after his own paintings, with a text by Henri Pourrat". (Benezit). (very good condition, small tears on top and bottom of spine).
