Paris, E. Plon, Nourrit et Cie, 1897. Petit in-8 de XVI-342-(1) pp., demi-veau rouge, dos à nerfs orné du fer à l'aigle couronné répété, couverture conservée (reliure moderne).
Ouvrage publié par son neveu, Pierre de Bourgoing et qui reprend la partie militaire des Souvenirs d'histoire contemporaine. Episodes militaires et politiques (Dentu, 1864). Portait frontispice. « Ambassadeur de France à Copenhague en 1800, le père de Bourgoing l’emmena au Danemark, ce qui nous vaut un bon récit de l’attaque de Copenhague par les Anglais en 1801. C’est ensuite la Saxe de Frédéric-Auguste qui est évoquée. A partir de 1811, Paul-Charles Bourgoing (1791-1864) entre dans les rangs de la Grande-Armée. Il fait la campagne de Russie puis celle d’Allemagne et participe à la défense de Paris. On n’oubliera pas que ces souvenirs ont été rédigés tardivement à partir d’un carnet de notes. La partie des mémoires militaires concernant la Russie avait été publiée dès 1862 sous le titre Itinéraire de Napoléon Ier. Cette édition est complété de par 29 pages de notes écrites par Bourgoing et non reprises dans celles de 1864 ».
