Publié à Paris en 1947, cet ouvrage de Jacques Isorni revient sur le procès de Robert Brasillach, figure littéraire française controversée, jugé et exécuté en janvier 1945 pour collaboration avec l'occupant nazi. À travers une analyse détaillée des audiences, Isorni, avocat de Brasillach, offre un témoignage direct sur les tensions politiques et sociales de l'époque, marquée par la Libération et les règlements de comptes avec le régime de Vichy. Ce récit se situe à l'intersection de l'histoire judiciaire, politique et littéraire de la France de l'après-guerre, reflétant les dilemmes moraux auxquels la société française fut confrontée dans son effort de reconstruction nationale.
