Belle impression sur vergé paille d'édition. L'ouvrage s'agrémente de planches et figures. ''Voici, pour la première fois, imprimés dans notre langue française, trois traités du valeureux Chevalier d’Héliopolis, George Ripley. Il n’est pas, parmi les plus Savants, un Philosophe qui n’appuya son enseignement par quelques propos du chanoine de Bridlington ; que ce fut Michel Maier, Samuel Northon, Eyrenée Philalethe, ou encore le superlatif Fulcanelli… Quel trésor pourra puiser l’étudiant studieux, dans l’indéhiscent livre des Douze Portes ! Rien, en effet, ne pourra manquer au besoin, après plusieurs lectures appliquées — à moins que l’on ait les yeux cillés ou un esprit futile ; et pour reprendre la fameuse maxime de Henri Kunrath, « à quoi sert une lumière brillante ou des lunettes, si les gens ne veulent voir ? » De toutes les Œuvres de George Ripley, cette édition sera, sans contestation aucune, la meilleure. La première, parue alors à Londres, comportait un nombre conséquent d’erreurs, qui allaient subséquemment, hélas, se perpétuer dans les diverses traductions faites à partir de cette première publication. Revus sur les originaux, manuscrits, les textes de cette présente édition, formeront la première impression en langue française, de l’Œuvre Philosophique du Chevalier George Ripley.''
