Hazan Paris 2003 In-4 ( 307 X 242 mm ) de 430 pages, cartonnage éditeur sous jaquette illustrée en couleurs. Superbe et abondante iconographie en couleurs et en noir dans et hors-texte. Très bel exemplaire.Redécouvert à l'époque romantique en France et en Allemagne, Jean Fouquet ( vers 1420-1478? ) est principalement peintre et illustrateur de manuscrits. Il est très tôt reconnu comme un artiste hors pair, très apprécié par les milieux de la cour, pour lesquels il réalise des portraits admirables : le plus connu est celui du « très victorieux roi de France » Charles VII qui se trouve au Louvre. Son retable d'autel de la Pietà de l'église paroissiale de Nouans révèle des moyens picturaux d'une liberté extraordinaire en son temps, un XVe siècle où la peinture est aussi et surtout dans les livres, trésors précieux qui sont l'apanage des cours des rois. Fouquet est orfèvre en la matière. La synthèse personnelle qu'il opère entre l'ars nova flamand et la première Renaissance italienne fait de lui l'un des grands peintres du XVe siècle, à l'égal de Van Eyck ou de Fra Angelico. Cette monographie savante et exhaustive fait le point sur l'état des recherches concernant Fouquet, son rayonnement et apporte des points de vue nouveaux sur la collaboration au sein de son atelier.
