C'est en octobre 1889 que se tint à Washington le premier sommet panaméricain, destiné à promouvoir des projets économiques concernant l'ensemble des Etats, spécialement une ligne de chemin de fer intercontinental reliant le sud des Etats-Unis au Chili. Fine copy of these official relations on the ‘Congres of the 3 Americas’, (North - Central & South), held in Washington, complete with the very large coloured map of North & South America with the projected railway from Arizona / New Mexico and Florida through Mexico and Central America then along the Andes up to Chili. With several deviations projected to a.o. Argentina, Venezuela, Paraguay and Brazil.
