Édition originale en service de presse dont il n’a pas été tiré de grand papier . Envoi autographe signé de l’auteur : « Pour Maurice et pour Geneviève de Gandillac, auxquels nous pensons beaucoup ces temps-ci, en fidèle hommage L. Poliakov ». Quelques notes en marges au stylo rouge probablement de la main de Gandillac, pliures au dos sinon bon état.
Exemplaire provenant de la bibliothèque de Maurice de Gandillac (1906-2006). Eminent universitaire spécialiste de la philosophie de la Renaissance et germaniste, il a dialogué avec tous ceux qui ont compté dans la pensée européenne : Husserl, Cassirer, Heidegger, Sartre, Raymond Aron ... Professeur de philosophie à la Sorbonne, son influence fut déterminante pour les principaux penseurs de la "French Theory" : Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida, Jean-Francois Lyotard, Paul Ricoeur, Louis Althusser... Il fut également au centre de la vie intellectuelle française en dirigeant, avec son épouse Geneviève, l'Association des Amis de Pontigny-Cerisy, organisatrice des colloques du Centre culturel international de Cerisy-la-Salle.
