Falaise, visages, plateaux. rides, corps, failles, écorces des baobabs, peaux, architectures... Mes paysages sont des portraits, mes portraits sont des paysages. Images de lieux et d'individus ayant une identité singulière, qu'il m'importe d'isoler pour qu'elle échappe à l'anecdote et soit ainsi investit d'une portée intemporelle. Révéler sans les trahir ces paysages majestueux et ces êtres dignes et vulnérables qui m'émeuvent, me troublent et suscitent mon admiration.Rendre hommage, selon la devise des Dogon sur l'autel de leurs ancêtres, à ces " équilibreurs de degrés ", à ces grands bàtisseurs-sculpteurs que sont la Nature et l'Homme.

Ouvrage basé sur le livre fondamental de Desplagnes "Le plateau central nigérien" publié en 1907 et sur les Carnet de route et Cahier de notes de Desplagnes, tirés de l'oubli par Ferdinando Fagnola qui a suivi scrupuleusement les traces de Desplagnes en pays dogon.
