‎A Travel Photograph Album Of England, Germany, South Tyrol And Austria. ‎

‎Na Na 1893 ‎

‎A lovely large format photograph album of a tour of England and Wales in 1893. There was also a tour of Bavaria, Salzburg and Innsbruck in 1895. The album starts in 1893 and has 38 photographs (mostly Albumen) of England and Wales. These are mostly large (24cm x 32cm) images. There are some smaller (18.5 cm x 23.5cm). They appear to be commercially purchased photographs. There are also a further 9 smaller (17cm x 22cm and 12cm x 18cm) images of cottages with descriptions on the back. These seem to be personally taken photographs? The trip began with the Needles on the Isle of Wight, (24cm x 32cm) and continued with similar photographs of the Isle of Wight, Tennyson's house, Southsea & Portsmouth, Tintern Abbey. The tour then moved on to Wales, and there are photographs of North and South Wales, with quite a few of Betws-y-coed, and some bridges in the area. The trip moved on to Chester, with a number of photographs of Eaton House in Chester, and Hatfield House. A second part of the album covers a trip in 1895, comprising 23 photographs of Bavaria, Salzburg and Innsbruck. The photographs are all of good condition, still bright, with a touch of fading only. A few have light creasing, or the odd tear where they have come away from the album at some point, but overall a very presentable and attractive album of English and European topography from the 1890's. The album itself is black buckram with leather spine and corners. There is some rubbing to the boards, and some scuffing. A tape repair (with black tape) to the spine. The album measures 37cm x 45 cm. The photographs have hand written annotations below describing the view. There is some staining to the inside boards of the album and a few of the cardboard backing sheets are wavy, but this doesn't really affect the photographs.‎

‎London Vanity Fair 1880 Un "album d'art" victorien avec 44 lithographies en couleur de Vanity Fair collées sur la page de gauche. En face de chaque lithographie, les détails biographiques de Jehu Jr sont également collés. (Vanity Fair a été fondé par Thomas Gibson Bowles, alias Jehu Junior, en 1868). Les sujets sont principalement des hommes politiques (britanniques et irlandais), des membres de l'aristocratie et des militaires. De belles caricatures de Leslie Ward qui a utilisé le nom de crayon de "Spy" Carlo Pellegrini ou de "Ape", "T". L'album lui-même est décoré et gaufré en noir et en doré sur un support en tissu vert. L'extérieur de l'album est en bon état de propreté. A l'intérieur, les pages sont noircies et les rousseurs anciennes sur les pages de garde, et les pages sont noircies et un peu cassantes sur la carte d'art rigide, mais le texte et les lithographies sont en très bon état. 380 x 330 mm (15 x 13 pouces). ‎A Victorian "art album" with 44 colour lithographs from Vanity fair tipped in to the left page. Opposite each, the biographical details by Jehu Jr is also tipped in. (Vanity Fair was founded by Thomas Gibson Bowles, AKA Jehu Junior, in 1868). The subjects are largely politicians (British and Irish) members of the aristocracy and military men. Beautiful caricatures by Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy" Carlo Pellegrini or "Ape", "T". The album itself is decorated and embossed in black and gilt on a green cloth base. The outside of the album is in good clean condition. Inside, there is darkening and old foxing to the end papers, and the pages are darkened and a little brittle to the stiff art card, but the text and lithographs are in very good condition. 380 x 330 mm (15 x 13 inches). ‎London NA 1918 Un bel album de photographies, Circa 1918. Demi simili cuir avec cartons et cordons de serrage. Celui-ci contient 22 photographies touristiques de Londres. Al sont de taille 6,5 cm x 8,5 cm. Joli ton sépia avec des chiffres blancs. Ceux-ci semblent être principalement (ou peut-être tous) de Valentine. Il y a des légendes manuscrites à côté de nombreuses photographies des principaux monuments de Londres. La datation provient du style et des véhicules présentés. Il y a alors un certain nombre de pages blanches. À l'arrière de l'album se trouvent 4 photographies plus grandes (10 cm x 14 cm avec 3 extérieurs et un intérieur de maisons de campagne britanniques. Celles-ci semblent être des photographies légèrement ultérieures - peut-être des années 1930. Un total de 26 photographies. Provenance : d'un marché d'antiquités de Bruxelles, Petite photographie (de l'atelier bruxellois) avec une photo d'avion, vers les années 1950. ‎A nice photograph album, from Circa 1918. Half faux leather with card boards and cord ties. This contains 22 tourist photographs of London. All are size 6.5cm x 8.5cm. Nice sepia tone with white numbers. These seem to be mainly (or possibly all) by Valentine. There are handwritten captions alongside many of the photographs of the major London landmarks. The dating is from the style and vehicles shown. There are then a number of blank pages. To the rear of the album are 4 larger (10cm x 14cm photographs with 3 exteriors and one interior of British country houses. These would appear to be slightly later photographs - perhaps 1930's. A total of 26 photographs. Provenance: From a Brussels antique market, Small photograph (from Brussels studio) with a photograph of an aircraft, circa 1950's. A nice collection. Album dimensions 175 by 205mm (7 by 8 inches). .‎

‎From a Brussels collection, a photograph album featuring small (6.5 x 8.5cm) tourist photographs. These comprise: Port Said & Cairo (25 photographs) Mont St Michel (5) Dublin & Surroundings (15) and Glendalough (10) A total of 55 photographs. No date, but circa 1910 from the Dublin street scenes (not a car in any, trams and horses / coaches only). The photographs are in good clean condition. They are the well printed and focused images of commercial photographs of the day. The album, of mock snake skin covered card boards, is secured with cord. Each sheet is covered with a tissue guard. The album is a little bumped and with edgewear. Some of the images have become detached from their mounts, but still an attractive collection. Album size 130 by 190mm (5 by 7œ inches). .‎

‎Editions Louis Pariente Paris 1989 Album grand in-4 oblong "à l'italienne" ( 300 X 370 mmm ), en feuilles, sous coffret orné de l'éditeur, fermeture à rubans. Fac-similé de l'album de 20 planches lithographiées en couleurs, publiées à Paris en 1823 chez Ambroise Tardieu. Très bel exemplaire.‎
