All published (5 fascicules) of this rare and monumental work. No copy recorded in the cat. Bibliothque Nationale. The work was realized trhrough the combined effort of the best dermatologists of that period in France. Together with over 20 entries in G&M. The unsurpassed chromolithographs in this work were made by Lemercier, the unrivalled master. The aim of this work was to provide a diagnostic tool with suggestions for a rational treatment of the various cutaneous diseases. The material presented was based on the rich collection of the museum of l'Hpital Saint-Louis, the finest in the world on the subject. The Muse, founded in 1866 started with the modest collection Devergie of watercoulours and photographs. By 1895 the collection became the most important in the world. The most important part of the collectiom are the MOULAGES (three demensional coloured mouldings). The master mouleur was M. Baretta, a highly gifted artist. His first moulage was created in 1867, and the end of 1894 he had created 1800

Copy with author's autograph dedication....The author was a surgeon at the Gand Civil Hospital and assistant to the Gand University. In this paper he described new catheter (after his invention) for urethral irrigation in Gonorrhea. The instrument was manufactured by the instrument maker Klein of Gent.--(Off print from: Annales de la Soc. de Md. de Gand, 1889).

Finely printed in black and orange with decorative headings to the chapters (21) at the presses of the master printer J.E. Buschmann of Antwerp.The author was a well-known dermatologist and syphilologist of Bruxelles. He, i.a., investigated the treatment of Syphilis with arsenic preparations. Very nice copy.

A great classic, which has became quite rare today. "Fournier, one of the graetest syphilologist, did more than any other person to develop the knowledge regarding congenital syphilis. Through his writings, the importance of "syphilis as a cause of degenerative diseases was recognized" (Garrison & Morton, 2393). See also the large note in H. of Hippocrates, 1980. --(In volume 2, a few pages a bit browned or foxed).

** A good and complete working copy of the last and best French edition of this great classic of venereal literature. The original edition was published in London, 1786. See Garrison & Morton 2377 & Heirs of Hippocrates 969. As usual with Ballire's publications of that period, scattered foxing.

Eduard Lang was a pupil of Bruecke and Billroth until his promotion in 1865. In 1873 he was Professor of Dermatology and Syphilogy at the University of Innsbruck. He was the author of numerous articles on these subjects, the present work (first ed. 1884) was his only published book. A nicely illustrated work. Hirsch III, 599

A rare work, being a mixture of quackery and scientific medical bibliography. The first part here in 2nd corrected & enlarged edition was originally published in 1773 as "Methode familire pour gurir les Maladies Vnriennes", and was nothing more than an attempt to promote the use of author's nostrum "chocolat aphrodisiaque & anti-syphilique". The remainder of the text are in First edition. At pp. 55-63 a "life of Astruc". On pp. 759-821 we find the translation of Boehm's "Dissertation sur les differentes mthodes qui ont t employes pour guirir le Mal Vnrien" (no record found of the original Latin edition). The bulk of the book (960 pages) is a most valuable anotated supplement ot the Bibliography of Astruc from 1740(see G-M 5195). Detailed and remarkably correct, with information about many obscure and rare publications. The work is concluded by an index on authors, a chronological table and a table of subjects. No copy in the Bibliotque Nationale.-- (Amall wormhole in the outher margin throughout the volumes, not affecting the text).
