1930 298 p., 51 plates, paperbound (original stiff printed covers).The series "Die Tierwelt Mitteleuropas" was published by P. Brohmer, P. Ehrmann, and G. Ulmer. This part deals mainly with beetles. A smaller portion treats the Strepsiptera Kirby, 1813, and was written by G. Ulmer. The latter group is parasitic on members of many other insect orders and their closest affinity is still disputed. Very well-illustrated. A good clean copy, uncut.

1857 / 1861 Two volumes in two. 419, 343 p., 2 lithographed plates, uniform contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Spines with gilt title and ornaments.Adolph Schenck wrote many different monographs on the insects of Nassau, in western Germany. These two hymenopterological monographs are offprints from the society's Jahrbücher 12 and 14, with separate pagination. In the rear of the bee-paper is a smaller one, by the same author, titled "Die Honingbiene vom Hymettus" (3 p.). The first volume with some scattered foxing, the second with the front hinge much rubbed, both volumes somewhat browned due to the quality of the paper. In all a very good set. (Cantharidae) (51 p., 129 figs).Georg Frey (1902-1976) was a wealthy businessman and a entomologist working on Scarabaeidae. Frey was able to create (in 1950) his own Coleoptera museum, the Museum G. Frey, which was the world's largest private collection of beetles (three million specimens, approximately 150.000 species, including 20.000 types!). Frey also began the journal Entomologische Arbeiten aus dem Museum G. Frey, which was published in 56 volumes. The last one was published in 1987.
