1853-1873 Paris, L. Maison, 1853-1873. 12 parts in ten. Large 8vo. Text, and 17 plates and 17 portraits. Partly bound, partly (8-10 & 16) in original printed wrappers. Rare set of Mulsants collected works. Contains the descriptions and illustrations of numerous new and poorly known insects, of which the Coleoptera and Diptera are quite prominent. Also with some obituaries and biographies. Several papers have co-authors, such as Rey and Godart. Some parts a bit spotted, but mostly clean. The first four parts, and parts 13-15 in bindings with rich gilt spines, the remainder in original printed wrappers, one (vol. 12) with the margins rather crudely cut, most with broad margins. 1862 (1st ed.) [6], 144 p., paperbound (original printed covers). Very good unopened, uncut, almost mint copy.Mulsant was a French entomologist specialized in Coleoptera. He travelled to Liège, Cologne, Stettin, Berlin, Dresden, Münich, Zürich, Genève. His voyages led him to many of his colleagues and their collections, and thus apart from being only a narrative of an interesting journey to Germany, Mulsant's account gives a rare insight in the scientific society of those days.
