Er studierte Medizin, Philosophie und Naturgeschichte an der Universität Bologna, ab 1555 war er dort Professor für Philosophie und für medizinische Botanik. Aldrovandi sammelte und erforschte Pflanzen, Tiere, Mineralien und Fossilien. Er veröffentlichte zahlreiche Werke. – Der Pergamentbezug zum Teil beschädigt und fleckig. Der innere Falz angeplatzt. Das Papier durchgehend leicht stockfleckig, zu Beginn fingerfleckig.
