Questa importante e celebrata opera sull'avifauna dell'Europa centrale e specialmente della Germania, è illustrata da complessive 446 (su 450) tavole f.t. stampate su cartoncino (1 in più rispetto all'Indice) di cui: 391 sono in cromolitografia e raffigurano ca. 1500 uccelli ritratti nel loro ambiente naturale - 48 (su 49), pure in cromolito, sono dedicate alle uova - 7 (su 10) sono in b.n. (per lo più anatomiche). Vi sono raffigurati: tordi, passeracei, cinciallegre, allodole, capinere, fringuelli, storni, uccelli da preda, colombi, gallinacei, ibis, otarde, pivieri, beccacce, anatre, pellicani, procellarie, ecc. Al ns. esemplare "mancano 4 tavole" (17a - 17b con uova - 17c - 17d) e "32 pagine" (da 177 a 208) nel vol. XII, qui presenti in fotocopia (anche a colori).
