‎Edition originale (Mareuse I, 1430). "L'auteur reprend un projet initié par l'ingénieur de Parcieux pour augmenter le débit insuffisant des eaux de Paris : nivellement du cours de l'Yvette, devis estimatifs, analyse par Macquer des eaux de l'Yvette et de la Bièvre, devis de Lavoisier concernant les pompes à feu et pompes de relais nécessaires. Au début des années 1760, Antoine Deparcieux proposa de détourner l'Yvette, petite rivière à l'eau plus pure que celle de la Seine, afin d'alimenter la capitale. En 1769, deux ingénieurs, Jean-Rodolphe Perronet (1708-1794) et Antoine Chézy, furent désignés pour reconnaître l'Yvette, déterminer l'endroit où il conviendra de la détourner de son cours, lever les profils et faire les nivellements, ainsi que les plans et devis des ouvrages nécessaires au détournement. Tous ces travaux nécessitent du temps et ils n'en feront rapport à l'Académie des sciences bien plus tard. Important mémoire, le premier qui ait proposé de détourner les eaux de l'Yvette et de la Bièvre pour alimenter Paris en eau potable. Le projet ne connut pas de suite dans l'immédiat, mais il fut repris en 1787 par Nicolas Defer de la Nouëre (1740-1794) avec son Entreprise de l'Yvette, soutenue par Clavière".
