‎Summary This volume collects contributions from the international conference Biblia regum. Bibbia dei re, Bibbia per i re (sec. IV-XIII) held at the University of L'Aquila, 16-17 April 2018. The collection sheds a new light on the relation between the Bible and royal authority in the late antique and medieval West. By focussing both on the use of biblical quotations and on distinct features of biblical manuscripts - such as dedications, comments, translations and illustrations - contributors investigate how the Bible functioned as a behavioural model to which rulers and their subjects should conform, as well as a text that supported royal power. Collectively, the contributions address significant aspects of the layered interconnection between royal power and the Holy Writ, and lead to a fruitful dialogue between different fields of research. On publie ici la plupart des relations prononc es en occasion du Colloque international "Biblia regum - Bible des rois, Bible pour les rois (IV-XIII si cle)", tenu l'Universit de L'Aquila les 16 et 17 avril 2018 pr s du D partement des Sciences Humaines. La conf rence avait le but d' tudier les relations entre la Bible et l'autorit royale en Occident de la fin de l'Antiquit au Moyen ge. On a analys la Bible en tant que mod le de comportement auquel les souverains doivent se conformer, comme un texte d'appui du pouvoir royal, un livre d dier, commenter, traduire et illustrer. Tandis que les deux premi res contributions offrent une perspective de longue dur e, les autres se concentrent sur trois p riodes d'importance primordiale: la transition de l'empire tardif aux royaumes barbares, o la m diation des v ques joue un r le fondamental; le IXe si cle, dans lequel la Bible, en plus d' tre un r pertoire d'exempla dans les specula principum, inspire des textes vernaculaires qui la traduisent, paraphrasent et en t moignent la r ception ; les XIIe et XIIIe si cles, lorsque la Bible est propos e comme paradigme de l'action des souverains chez Jean de Salisbury, mais aussi dans la production litt raire romane. ‎Summary The 2000th anniversary of Ovid's death, in 2017-2018, led to an upsurge in conferences and publications dedicated to the author's work and afterlife. One of these is the present volume, resulting from the conference Dopo Ovidio. ‎Summary The category of the "national school", paramount for the emerging discipline of art history in the 19th century, tended to dismiss the crucial encounters, confrontations and exchanges prompted by the fact that artists commonly travelled abroad, especially for the purposes of education and training. The aim of this volume is to address the complexities of this under-researched phenomenon, shedding light on the motivations and impact of transnational art education on artists' careers, on the actors and educational institutions involved (e.g. state-run academies, private schools or studios, museums, outdoor practices) and on the growing international networks connecting artists, patrons, collectors, dealers, critics and scholars. Even though the nation was a major category for historical actors of the period, it is essential to question the validity of the national framework as an analytical tool for current scholarship: our aim is therefore to propose a new reading of 19th-century art worlds based on the idea of circulations, entanglements and revised geographies. In the 19th century the destinations and itineraries of art students were reshaped by changing artistic trends and reputations, as well as by larger economic and geopolitical transformations engendered by the formation of new nation states and the remapping of Empires. The more or less temporary expatriations and the experience of difference during the key-period of artistic training generated divergent individual responses to foreign artistic contexts. Their responses were formed amidst persistent tensions between the elaboration of ?national art? and the appeal to artistic values that crossed national boundaries. Examining both recurring patterns as well as individual examples, the contributors to the volume analyze career strategies that took advantage of resources labeled as "foreign" and explore the implications of an increasingly internationalized art market for the choices of aspiring artists. Beyond the emphasis on the circulation of people/actors, specific attention is given to the transfers of teaching methods, techniques and art theoretical discourses between artistic centers. Contributions also take into consideration the more or less precarious living conditions of art students abroad, their modes of socialization and group formations, the experience of the city and participation in artistic and intellectual circles. This volume is founded on the belief that 'the unprecedented empirical power of digital tools and archives offers a unique chance to rethink the categories of literary study' (F. Moretti). The book's first section presents cases studies applying 'quantitative' criticism based on the linguistic and stylistic use of frequency wordlists which, thanks to digital tools and to a larger literature, are becoming more easily accessible and more powerful. The chapters of this section lead the reader from an application of stylometry within a traditional critical exercise, via the structured use of frequency indexing as a warning light for cultural or stylistic phenomena undetectable to the naked eye, to more technical corpus analysis experiments based on linguistic evolution or authorship attribution.
