– Vorsatz etwas knickspurig, sonst gut. Blake 214 – Hirsch-H. III, 236. – Image disp.

In 1859 he was appointed professor of anatomy descriptive on the faculty of medicine at Warsaw where he completed his career. The extensive study of neuroanatomy during the latter half of the nineteenth century resulted in a plethora of atlases of the nervous system. HIRSCHFELD présentée à la Faculté de médecine de Paris le 31 Août 1848 dans laquelle il expose le nouveau procédé qu'il a mis au point pour LA PREPARATION DES PIECES ANATOMIQUES ---- RARE ---- "Although Polish by birth, Hirschfeld spent a great part of his professional life in France, where he was professor of anatomy on the Paris Faculty of Medicine and a member of many scientific societies. In 1859 he was appointed professor of anatomy descriptive on the faculty of medicine at Warsaw where he completed his career.

Beschreibung)).

---- Cet ouvrage parut simultanément en 1734 à Halle, Francfort (1734/1735) et Amsterdam ---- BON EXEMPLAIRE ---- "If, on the one hand, Stahl can be regarded as a pioneer in the biological trend of medicine, on the other hand HOFFMANN appears as the creator of an influential system of medicine reposing on mechanistic foundations". (Castiglioni p. 584) ---- "HOFFMANN was the greatest of the iatromechanists and the first to perceive that pathology is an aspect of physiology. Hoffmann revived the use of mineral baths, was one of the first to describe convulsive asthma with dropsy, appendicitis, chlorosis, and rubella, was a careful observer of local epidemics and meterology, wrote notable treatises on personal hygiene, physiology, pathology, medical ethics and pediatrics, sets of Consilia and Consultations...". (Garrison P. 314) ---- "HOFFMANN, (1660/1742), was a leading medical systematist of the first half of the eighteenth century. He became a highly influential teacher and practicing physician in Germany, systematising coherently the Galenic, iatromechanical, and iatrochemical aspects of the phenomena of health and disease. The attention he focused on the role of the nervous system in physiology and pathogenesis contributed to a gradual shift in medical approach, namely form preoccupation with so-called humors and vascular hydrodynamics to that with neuromuscular action and sensibility...". (DSB VI) ---- "HOFFMANN viewed acute disease as "spasmodic" and chronic disease as "atonic". Muscle tone and the balance of humors of the body were supposedly controlled by nerve fluid".
