‎Cet étrange instrument orthopédique conçu pour un corps entier intégralement modulable par un jeux de visses et de molettes est une invention du padouan Angelo Carlesco, il permettait d’après son auteur de rectifier les anomalies corporelles (scolioses ou autres) et pouvait être utilisé dans la réduction des fractures. Jérôme Fabrice est le premier à avoir décrit les valvules des artères, il comptait parmi ses élèves William Harvey qui, s’appuyant sur ces observations en déduisit la nature de la circulation du sang. Un rare ouvrage dans sa première reliure aux figures parfaitement encrées. ‎

‎Summary This study looks at the ways in which physicians and philosophers developed Galen's philosophical legacy at the end of the Renaissance, and shows how their reading of classical medical texts moved beyond accepted patterns and conventions. By challenging a traditional historiographical account that described Renaissance Galenism in terms of decline and fall, this study argues for a new assessment of Galen's legacy, also read through the lens of those who opposed or reacted critically to it and thus contributed to the shaping of important aspects of the early modern debate on anthropology, ethics, psychology and even quantified experimentation. Among these many innovations and transformations, the notion of 'ingenuity' (ingenium) deserves particular attention. Hidden within this corporeal, inherent and heritable inclination, two major themes that side disquietingly with the development of modern subjectivity can be identified: the 'corporeality of the body', and the common destiny of humans and animals. More generally, this study offers a contribution to the ongoing debate on the role and value of medical history, arguing in favour of the concept of 'historical translatability' in balancing the longue dur e of traditions with the chaotic interactions of individual thinkers. ‎Seconde édition française. Girolamo Fabrizi d'Acquapendente (1537-1619) fut surtout, dans la chaire d'anatomie de Padoue, un maître dont les découvertes personnelles ont favorisé celles de certains de ses élèves, en particulier William Harvey (1578-1657). On lui doit la description des valvules situées à l'intérieur des veines(De venarum ostiolis, 1603). Il préconisa la ligature des artères pour juguler les hémorragies, et la trachéotomie dans certaines formes de diphtérie ; il s'intéressa à la chirurgie de l'urètre et, le premier, compara le développement de l'embryon humain à celui des animaux.
