Den sjældne originaludgave af denne grønlandsklassiker. Saabye, søstersøn til Poul Egede, udgav hermed et uddrag af sine dagbøger på opfordring af biskop Plum i Odense. Bogen vakte en ikke ringe opmærksomhed, både blandt misssionsinteresserede og etnografer og blev oversat til både svensk, tysk, hollandsk og engelsk. Ingemanns ""Kunnuk og Naja"" er bygget herpå.
