‎Ever since the publication of a pioneering study by Ernst Dummler in the Berlin Sitzungsberichte of 1890, the commentary on the Gospel according to St Matthew by Christian, a teacher at the Benedictine abbey of Stavelot-Malmedy, has continuously attracted a great deal of interest. With the exception of only a few scholars, who had access to a manuscript, most others had to base their studies on Migne, PL 196, cols. 1261-1504. That text reproduces the editio princeps of 1514, which was produced by the well-known humanist Jakob Wimpfeling in Strasburg. In his much-used work De scriptoribus ecclesiasticis Sponheim?s famous abbot Trithemius first mentions another name by which Christian was to become known, viz. Druthmar(us). Though occasionally adopted by authors and compilers of catalogues of manuscripts, this other name was more generally assumed to have been imagined by Trithemius himself; but although it certainly is not authentic, it really does appear in a fifteenth-century manuscript he may well have perused. The new edition (CCCM 224), which is completed by a section Rariora et notabilia and a set of extensive indexes, is based on no fewer than nine manuscripts and two ancient editions (1514 and 1530, both representing lost manuscripts), and since the commentary must have been written around 865, it is of no small interest that the oldest of all these hitherto unused manuscripts (W, in Wolfenbuttel) dates back to as early as the late ninth century. ‎Depuis son edition dans le Recueil des Historiens des Croisades (Historiens occidentaux , vol. IV, 1879), cette relation de la premiere croisade et des premieres annees du Royaume de Jerusalem a ete tres peu utilisee. La situation a change recemment, pour cette oeuvre comme pour les autres ecrits de Guibert. La presente edition donne pour la premiere fois le texte critique de cette oeuvre importante qui merite toute notre attention, tant pour l'information qu'elle nous procure que pour sa valeur litteraire. Ce texte, qui est en essence un remaniement des Gesta Francorum restes anonymes, comporte de nombreux ajouts rediges a partir des temoignages de croises revenus de Terre Sainte que l'auteur a traites avec un exceptionnel sens critique. Deux des cinq appendices contiennent des recits historiques anonymes qui suivent chronologiquement la relation de Guibert et qui ont tres certainement ete rediges au Royaume de Jerusalem. De nombreux manuscrits ont ete utilises ici pour la premiere fois. Afin de permettre une etude aisee, des references ont ete placees en marge, les unes aux pages du Recueil, les autres aux paragraphes de l'edition des Gesta Francorum par Hagenmeyer. ‎Le volume 127 de la Continuatio Mediaevalis contient trois ouvrages de Guibert de Nogent, l'un des auteurs les plus interessants du 12e siecle. Le premier de ces trois est en meme temps le premier qu'il ait compose: methodique et plein de bon sens, il donne des suggestions comment il convient de composer un sermon et de retenir jusqu'au bout l'attention de l'auditoire. Le deuxieme traite de deux questions brulantes a l'epoque, a savoir si Judas avait bien recu l'Eucharistie comme les autres apotres, et si ce sacrement n'a qu'une valeur symbolique ou correspond a une realite. La piece de resistance est fournie par l'un des ouvrages les plus remarquables de tout le moyen age latin, celui sur les saints et leurs reliques. C'est surtout dans le premier livre que l'auteur donne libre cours a son aversion des pratiques courantes en son temps. Son point de depart est la pretention des moines de Saint-Medard de Soissons de posseder une dent du Christ. En appendice sont publies deux autres textes, anonymes ceux-la, qui se rapportent egalement a cette dent. On a longtemps cru posseder l'autographe de l'ouvrage, qui n'a ete conserve que dans un seul manuscrit provenant de Nogent-sous-Coucy meme. Cette these est insoutenable. Comme il s'agit de la premiere edition critique de Guibert de Nogent qui ait jamais paru -l'autobiographie (Fr. Dolbeau) et les Dei gesta per Francos (Huygens) sont en cours de preparation- l'editeur s'est efforce, tant dans l'introduction que dans les notes et les indices, de traiter dans le detail l'orthographe et de reunir le plus grand nombre d'expressions et de passages paralleles tires des autres ecrits de Guibert. ‎Die religiosen Stromungen im mittelalterlichen Bistum Luttich und die darin uberaus wichtige Rolle gewisser Frauen stehen zunehmend im Interesse der Forschung. Die wohl bekannteste Figur unter ihnen war die Maria von Oignies (gestorben 1213), deren letzte Lebensjahre und Wirken ausfuhrlich beschrieben wurden von Jakob von Vitry, der sie personlich gekannt und erlebt hatte, bevor er zum Bischof von Akko und Kardinal-Bischof von Tusculum Frascati aufstieg, und dessen sterbliche Reste schliesslich auch nach Oignies uberfuhrt wurden. Die von ihm verfasste Vita und eine etwas spatere Erganzung dazu von Thomas von Cantimpre werden hier, zum ersten Mal seit der Ausgabe in den Acta Sanctorum von 1707, kritisch bearbeitet vorgelegt, und zwar nach dreissig Handschriften, wovon allein schon sechzehn noch aus dem 13. Jahrhundert. In zwei Appendices sind dazu noch ein bisher wenig bekanntes Schriftstuck uber Jakob von Vitry selbst und die Historia fundationis der Priorei von Oignies neu ediert worden. Mehrere Indices schliessen den Band ab, zu dem die 1992 uber Marie von Oignies promovierte Kirchenhistorikerin Frau Dr. Iris Geyer in naher Zukunft noch eine Ubersetzung der Vita und des Supplementum beisteuern wird.
