‎En 1592, la bataille dAumale opposait Henri IV au cardinal de Bourbon pour la succession au trône de France. Mise à sac de la ville par les troupes du Duc de Parme, la ville ayant porté assistance à Henri IV alors que le duc dAumale, Charles de Lorraine était un des principaux chefs de la ligue. ‎Voilà Farnese devant Caudebec. Nous sommes le 23 avril 1592. Au nom d'Henry IV, la ville est alors tenue par le gouverneur La Garde, entouré des troupes italiennes de Bracciaduros. Une flotte hollandaise attachée à Henry IV tente de protéger la ville en canonnant les Espagnols. Farnese disposait des batteries sur la rive pour répliquer lorsqu'il reçut d'une guérite des murailles un coup de mousquet au coude. La balle lui remonta l'avant-bras jusqu'à la main. Mais il ne laissa rien paraître, sinon du sang en abondance, et continua de diriger les opérations. Une canonnade ayant percé les remparts, Caudebec finit par tomber et Farnese y fit son entrée le 26 avril. Apprenant cela, Henry IV fonce sur Yvetot pour couper toute retraite à Farnese, acculé dans Caudebec. Miné par la fièvre, le voilà pris en étau par les troupes royales. Farnese établit son campement au hameau du Vieux-Louvetot, à la sortie de Caudebec. Longtemps le lieu gardera le nom de camp des Espagnols. Henry IV, quant à lui, s'établira solidement à Valliquerville. Durant seize jours, des combats incessants vont opposer les deux armées sur le plateau cauchois et embraser la région jusqu'au portes de l'abaye de Saint-Wandrille. Rouen-histoire.com‎

For him, the split between the Reformed and Lutheran traditions was unnecessary. In many of his writings, he pleads for greater understanding and better relations. He also warns the reformed church not to allow its unity to be negatively affected by the cocceian and cartesian differences and conflicts. In his opinion, there are three ways of resolving conflicts: reconsidering the common faith and confession commitment to piety and common practice, and reaching compromises.” ‎

‎First edition of Hopkin’s posthumously published exposition on the ten commandments and other sermons. Ezekiel Hopkins was “an English prelate and author, was born at Sandford, Devonshire, in 1633. He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford, and, after holding a short time the chaplaincy to the college he became minister of St. Mary Woolnoth, London, and later of St. Mary's, Exeter. He finally removed to Ireland with his father-in-law, lord Robartes (afterwards earl of Truro), and was made dean of Raphoe in 1669, and bishop of the same place in 1671. He was transferred to Londonderry in 1681, but in consequence of the Roman Catholic troubles in Ireland he returned to England in 1688, and was appointed minister of Aldermanbury, London, in 1689. He died June 22, 1690. In his doctrines he was a Calvinist.
