De Tsjech Borek Sipek (Praag, 1949) is een wereldberoemde architect die vooral naam heeft gemaakt als ontwerper van glasobjecten en meubels. Na een aantal jaren in Amsterdam werkzaam te zijn geweest, woont en werkt Sipek tegenwoordig weer in Praag. Het hoogtepunt van zijn carriere vormen ongetwijfeld zijn werkzaamheden aan het Kasteel in Praag. Deze pretentieuze opdracht die hem tot 'hofarchitect' maakte, kreeg hij van Vaclav Havel, president van Tsjechie tussen 1993 en 2003. Op het gebied van de vormgeving vallen vooral zijn kleurige, barokke glasobjecten in het oog die de functie van het drinkglas een andere inhoud hebben weten te geven. Dit geldt ook voor zijn meubelontwerpen die verrassen door hun onorthodoxe verschijningsvorm en het meubel een haast menselijk karakter verlenen. In deze publicatie wordt het werk van een van de meest veelzijdige architect-ontwerpers van onze tijd voor het voetlicht gebracht. Nieuw boek.
