‎Troisième de la génération des Vuitton, Gaston-Louis Vuitton , né à Asnières en 1883, avait de nombreux centres d'intérêt qui jouèrent tous un rôle fondamental dans l'histoire de la Maison.Grand érudit et fin collectionneur depuis son enfance, Gaston-Louis a accumulé de nombreuses malles et vieux objets de voyage provenant d'antiquaires et de ventes aux enchères, mais aussi des livres, des ouvrages de typographie et, plus particulièrement, d'innombrables étiquettes d'hôtels (celles que l'on retrouve apposées sur les bagages des clients). Il exprima aussi son sens de l'architecture et du design à travers des collaborations artistiques avant-gardistes, faisant produire des objets aussi fonctionnels qu'esthétiques, dont des petits coffrets, des flacons, des trousses de toilette. ‎
