‎First printing of Wang's Ph.D thesis on beta decay spectrum under the supervision of Lise Meitner. Wang was one of the initiators of research in China in nuclear physics, cosmic rays and particle physics and figured among the top leaders, pioneers and scientists of the Chinese nuclear deterrent program. Wang (1907 - 1998), a nuclear physicist from China, went in 1930 to study at the University of Berlin in Germany. As soon as he arrived in Berlin, hearing the Bothe report relating the emission of a new type of high-energy neutral radiation which was non-ionizing but even more penetrating than the hardest gamma rays derived from radium, induced by the bombardment of beryllium with ? particles from a radioactive polonium source, therefore wrongly presumed to be gamma rays, Wang first suggested the use of a cloud chamber to study it. Lacking the support of his supervisor Lise Meitner, the experiment was nonetheless conducted one year later by the English physicist James Chadwick, thus discovering a new type of particle, the neutron, allowing him to win the 1935 Nobel Prize in Physics.In 2000, the Chinese Physical Society established five prizes in recognition of five pioneers of modern physics in China. The Wang Ganchang Prize is awarded to physicists in particle physics and inertial confinement fusion.‎

‎QUATRIÈME ÉDITION, revue, corrigée et augmentée de ce FAMEUX TRAITÉ à l'usage des artistes et amateurs par le peintre, doreur, vernisseur et marchand de couleurs, dorures et vernis, Jean-Félix WATIN (né en 1728). Dans cet ouvrage divisé en TROIS PARTIES, il détaille tout d'abord la composition des couleurs, le moyen de les fabriquer, de la détrempe, de la peinture à l'huile, etc. puis dans "L'Art du doreur", la dorure à l'or, à l'huile, la manière de bronzer les fers, de nettoyer les vieilles dorures, etc. et enfin dans "L'Art du vernisseur", il explique l'emploi des vernis, la manière d'imiter les laques, de polir, lustrer, rafraîchir et détruire les couleurs et vernis, etc. On trouve à la suite le "Mémoire sur le vernis de la Chine" (pages 326 à 346) du jésuite passionné de botanique Pierre Nicolas Le Chéron d'Incarville (1706-1757) qui séjourna en Chine de 1740 à sa mort, et qui donne de nombreux détails sur « l'arbre de vernis », la préparation des différents vernis, le travail, l'application et la peinture du vernis, etc. TRÈS BEL EXEMPLAIRE conservé dans une reliure d'époque intacte, au corps d'ouvrage frais. ‎Aan het einde van de 19de eeuw tot het midden van de 20ste eeuw was Wolfers een begrip. De naam stond synoniem voor luxe, kwaliteit en hoogstaande artisticiteit van Belgische origine. De firma Wolfers, producent van zilverwerk en juwelen, werd in 1850 in Brussel opgericht door Louis Wolfers. Vooral onder het beleid van zijn zonen Philippe, Max en Robert kon de zaak zich internationaal profileren en verwierf zij belangrijke afzetmarkten in West- en Midden-Europa. De objecten in art-nouveaustijl die door Philippe Wolfers werden ontworpen, waren het onderwerp van lofbetuigingen vanwege de belangrijkste kunstcritici. Zijn unieke art-nouveaujuwelen werden getoond in heel Europa en de naam van Philippe Wolfers evenaarde die van de Fransman Rene Lalique. Niemand minder dan Victor Horta ontwierp het schitterende winkelpand van de zaak, die daarmee haar ambities kracht bijzette. Daar waar voor veel kunstenaars de art-nouveauperiode een eindpunt betekende, wist Philippe Wolfers via de beeldhouwkunst op perfecte wijze te evolueren naar de art deco. Gioconda, het interieur met toebehoren dat hij ontwierp voor de internationale tentoonstelling van decoratieve kunsten in Parijs in 1925, werd legendarisch.Na het overlijden van Philippe in 1929 volgde zijn zoon Marcel hem op als artistiek directeur. Naast het nieuwe elan dat Marcel de onderneming van luxeproducten gaf, profileerde hij zich als een begenadigde beeldhouwer en een begaafde lakkunstenaar.
