‎Ostuni's passion for light and lighting, coupled with his desire to make good lighting affordable for everyone, has resulted in the most beautiful lighting units, presented here in their entirety for the first time. Volume 1 paints a comprehensive picture of O-Luce?s company history and takes a look at the life story of its founder, Giuseppe Ostuni. Originally from Trieste, he founded his company O-Luce in Milan at the age of 40 and went on to become a pioneer of innovative, modern lighting units. Ostuni?s brother Angelo, together with Franco Buzzi, were the first to make O-Luce known beyond the borders of Italy and were key in shaping light design in the early 1950s. New materials, such as Perspex and industrial glass, or new light source technologies such as the Cornalux or halogen light, had a decisive influence on the design of modern lighting and here too Ostuni and his young designers, above all Tito Agnoli, Joe Colombo and Bruno Gecchelin, were at the forefront of lighting design. Volume 2 presents all the sources and historical evidence on which the catalogue raisonn is based. After a detailed overview of Ostuni?s systematics, Biographies introduces the most important of his designers. The main body of the second volume is comprised of the catalogue raisonn , which is divided into four sections: wall lamps, table lamps, floor lamps and ceiling lamps, containing a total of over 560 lamps. Each lighting unit is described with its model number, designer, year of design, materials, dimensions and ? in those cases in which they were published ? bibliographical details. Volume 2 also contains a critical chronological overview of those O-Luce lighting units published in specialised literature, magazines and catalogues at the time. A selected bibliography and a comprehensive index of the relevant figures mentioned concludes the second volume.‎

‎Summary Thomas Gallus (d. 1246) was the Abbot of Vercelli in the north of Italy. Initially a canon regular in the abbey of St Victor in Paris, he helped found a new monastery and church in the home town of his patron, Cardinal Guala Bicchieri. As well as commenting on the Canticle of Canticles three times, Thomas was renowned for his expositions of the works of Dionysius the Areopagite, commentaries which earned him the title magister in hierarchia (master of the hierarchies). This volume contains the first translation in any language of his Glosses on the Angelic (or Celestial) Hierarchy (completed in 1224), as well as his more detailed Explanation of the Angelic Hierarchy (finished in 1243). The commentaries are fascinating for their insights into Thomas's teaching that love has a higher access to an experience of God than the intellect, the role of the angelic hierarchies in the mystical return of the soul, the psychological interpretation of the angels as representing faculties of the soul, and the use of symbols representing analogical features of the divine. The source text of this volume appeared in Corpus Christianorum, Continuatio Mediaeualis as Thomas Gallus, Super angelica ierarchia (CCCM, 223) and Glose super angelica ierarchia (CC CM, 223A). References to the corresponding pages of the Corpus Christianorum edition are provided in the margins of this translation. Zij golden als het waarmerk van steden en dorpen, waarvan zij het silhouet domineerden en vormden een onmisbaar onderdeel van romaanse en gotische kerken, later ook van stadhuizen. ‎Le ch teau de Prague original date de 880 et a t fond par Borovoj, le plus ancien prince connu de la dynastie Przemyslide. Les b timents actuels sont ancr s dans trois p riodes de style : roman, gothique et classicisme. Le prince Venceslas Ier a commenc le faire. Sur la "Colline des Dieux", il fit construire en 925 un b timent rond comme sanctuaire s r pour la main de Saint Vitus. La forteresse, entour e de poteaux en bois, fut remplac e par un ch teau en pierre au XIe si cle par le roi Bretislav Ier. Le ch teau de Prague est l?un des plus grands complexes palatiaux ferm s au monde. Le front lui seul mesure un demi-kilom tre de long. Le ch teau est le plus grand ch teau du monde, avec une superficie de 7,5 hectares.‎
