‎Summary Collected together in this volume are long poems and stanzas attributed to the characters who appear in sagas of Icelanders (family sagas), including such well known figures as Egill Skallagrímsson, Gísli Súrsson and Grettir Ásmundarson. The poetry from twenty-four complete sagas and four short tales are edited here, together with two texts from non-saga manuscripts, including the scurrilous Grettisf?rsla, 'The Moving of Grettir'. The texts range chronologically from early poets' sagas to late and little known works from the later thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
