‎Summary The category of the "national school", paramount for the emerging discipline of art history in the 19th century, tended to dismiss the crucial encounters, confrontations and exchanges prompted by the fact that artists commonly travelled abroad, especially for the purposes of education and training. The aim of this volume is to address the complexities of this under-researched phenomenon, shedding light on the motivations and impact of transnational art education on artists' careers, on the actors and educational institutions involved (e.g. state-run academies, private schools or studios, museums, outdoor practices) and on the growing international networks connecting artists, patrons, collectors, dealers, critics and scholars. Even though the nation was a major category for historical actors of the period, it is essential to question the validity of the national framework as an analytical tool for current scholarship: our aim is therefore to propose a new reading of 19th-century art worlds based on the idea of circulations, entanglements and revised geographies. In the 19th century the destinations and itineraries of art students were reshaped by changing artistic trends and reputations, as well as by larger economic and geopolitical transformations engendered by the formation of new nation states and the remapping of Empires. The more or less temporary expatriations and the experience of difference during the key-period of artistic training generated divergent individual responses to foreign artistic contexts. Their responses were formed amidst persistent tensions between the elaboration of ?national art? and the appeal to artistic values that crossed national boundaries. Examining both recurring patterns as well as individual examples, the contributors to the volume analyze career strategies that took advantage of resources labeled as "foreign" and explore the implications of an increasingly internationalized art market for the choices of aspiring artists. Beyond the emphasis on the circulation of people/actors, specific attention is given to the transfers of teaching methods, techniques and art theoretical discourses between artistic centers. Contributions also take into consideration the more or less precarious living conditions of art students abroad, their modes of socialization and group formations, the experience of the city and participation in artistic and intellectual circles. A partire da un'analisi terminologica e teoretica che articola piano ontologico e metafisico, mantenendo il filo ermeneutico della polarit tra trascendenza e mutamento, si indaga poi il percorso etico e noetico proposto all'uomo, tra conoscenza e assimilazione a un Dio Essere inconoscibile e differente. Emerge cos la cifra del paradosso: strumento decisivo nello stoicismo, esso viene mutuato e trasformato da Filone, fino a diventare la chiave interpretativa del movimento di rinuncia del saggio, verso una vera e propria etica della trascendenza. Il tema e l'autore analizzati si prestano a illuminare in modo singolare il tornante della filosofia nel primo secolo, nel dibattito tra scuole filosofiche e tradizioni religiose, secondo una lettura positiva dell'eclettismo. ‎....Melchior Tavernier (Anvers, 1594 - Paris, 1665) est un graveur-libraire et cartographe français. Il eut pour apprenti Abraham Bosse, Les Francine, Francini, Franciny, Franchine, Francyne, Fransini, ou encore Fransiny sont des ingénieurs des eaux et des scénographes florentins. Frère de Thomas, oncle de François et de Pierre, parent du sculpteur Francesco di Bartolomeo Bordoni, Alexandre est né à Florence vers 1571, naturalisé français en 1603, mort en 1648, avait la charge de l'entretien des eaux et fontaines du château de Fontainebleau. L'art de Francine reste dans la tradition du Florentin Buontalenti, " ingeniere dei fiumi " du grand duc de Toscane, auteur des fabriques du célèbre jardin de Pratolino ; de celle de Frederico Zuccari, auteur du portail romain de la via Gregoriana en forme de bouche monstrueuse."..... Il est l'auteur de ce Livre d'architecture, publié en 1631 (puis réédité en 1640) par Melchior Tavernier, dont les planches sont gravées par Abraham Bosse. ‎In 1924 werd Andr Bretons Manifeste du Surr alisme voor het eerst gepubliceerd: exact een eeuw later vieren de Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten van Belgi de honderdste verjaardag van het surrealisme met de tentoonstelling IMAGINE! Van Giorgio de Chirico tot Jackson Pollock, Salvador Dal , Ren Magritte, Joan Mir , Dorothea Tanning, Man Ray en Leonor Fini: IMAGINE! brengt grote namen van het surrealisme samen en licht de beweging toe aan de hand van thema's als de droom, het labyrinth, het onderwuste en de metamorfose. De tentoonstelling legt ook interessante verbanden: aan de hand van meer dan 130 kunstwerken (schilderijen, werken op papier, sculpturen, objecten, assemblages en foto's) belicht IMAGINE! de raakvlakken en verwantschappen, maar ook de breuklijnen tussen het surrealisme en een van zijn voorgangers, het symbolisme.
